Kingston has a vision: Kingston – Canada’s Most Sustainable City. To achieve the vision of making Kingston - Canada’s Most Sustainable City, FOCUS Kingston is releasing Sustainable Kingston, an Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP) based on the cultural, economic, environmental, and social pillars of sustainability.
This web site is an online tool that presents the Sustainable Kingston Plan and provides a dynamic inventory of actions that Community Partners are undertaking to support sustainability. At the core of this site are all 20 themes from Sustainable Kingston and for each theme there is:
- A theme statement that describes where we want to be in the future
- Goals for that theme
- Indicators for monitoring progress
- Actions being undertaken in our community to move us towards our theme statement
THE SUSTAINABLE KINGSTON PLAN IS COMPLETE: After many public meetings and targeted consultations the first version of the Sustainable Kingston Plan is complete. Thank you to all those individuals, organizations and businesses that took the time to get involved and provide valuable input. We hope that you will see your enthusiasm and dedication to community sustainability reflected within the pages of the Plan.
On June 15, 2010 the completed Sustainable Kingston Plan was recommended to Kingston City Council by the Focus Kingston Steering Committee. City Council endorsed the City of Kingston becoming a Community Partner to the Plan and requested that the Focus Kingston Steering Committee now proceed with recommending a detailed governance and implementation approach.

If you are an individual Kingstonian then consider making the Citizen's Commitment that is provided in Appendix C of the Sustainable Kingston Plan.
If you are a business, institution or other community organization then consider becoming a Community Partner (Appendix B of the Plan) and sharing information about the actions that your organization is taking and how they move us closer to our community sustainability goals.
