How Can Individuals Get Involved?

As members of the community individual citizens recognize how their personal decisions have an impact on the sustainability of Kingston and the world.

Individuals can support Sustainable Kingston by completing the Citizen's Commitment (found in Appendix C of the Sustainable Kingston Plan) and sending it to us.

Once we recieve it we will add your name to our growing list of citizens in support of the Sustainable Kingston Plan and we will keep you informed through our email list serve.

 

How Can My Organization Get Involved?

The success of the Sustainable Kingston Plan will depend on the involvement of community organizations and individual Kingstonians. If you are a business, institution or other organization that wants to be part of the sustainability solution then becoming a Community Partner to the Sustainable Kingston Plan is the way to do it. 

As a Community Partner you can support Sustainable Kingston by:

  • Demonstrating a shared vision of sustainability through actions appropriate to the business of your organization

  • Participating in improving and implementing the Sustainable Kingston Plan

  • Communicating about actions that your organization is taking and how those actions contribute to the themes and goals of the Sustainable Kingston Plan

  • Sharing best practices and lessons learned

Community partners are encouraged to examine their organization’s strategic plans, goals and actions and seek alignment with Sustainable Kingston.

To become a Community Partner and start sharing information on Sustainable Kingston’s Community Action Inventory you can:

  • Provide your organization’s official endorsement of the Sustainable Kingston Community Partnership Charter,

OR

  • Send us a letter on your letterhead stating your organization’s desire to be recognized as a Community Partner to the Plan and your support for Sustainable Kingston.

AND

  • Let us know who to contact so that we can begin adding your actions to the Community Action Inventory
