Community Partners

United Way Kingston, Frontenac Lennox and Addington

Established in 1941, the United Way’s mission is "To build and strengthen our community by bringing people and resources together to facilitate change."

They support local programs and build capacity in local agencies. They provide stable funding and one-time grants. They work with others to determine root causes of social issues, bringing people together, raising funds and finding resources to support local needs and solutions.

 - Recycle;
 - Restrict use of plastic water bottles by replacing them with water jugs and glasses;
 - Reduce use of paper by re-booking and using white board for agenda and common discussion points rather than printing;
 - Conservie energy;
 - Print materials on recycled paper whenever possible.

Leadership Development Services Strengthen not for profit sector by facilitating board governance training: Public and custom workshops.

Website offers free service, matching interests with volunteer opportunities. Face to face matching service is available.

Homelessness: 

- Community Plan to address the issue of homelessness & affordable housing.
- As the Community Entity, United Way distributes Homelessness Partnering Strategy funds (Federal) and monitors established priorities.

Community Plan identifies Housing First model; the need to maintain shelter beds and the need to integrate support services to offer seamless services to those who are homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.
