Bayridge Secondary School (BSS), built in 1974, is a school that is young in years, but proud and established in traditions. The recent addition of cooking/hospitality facility and a video editing suite to the main campus has added to an already well-equipped building. Serving 750+ students, Bayridge is an ideal size for a secondary school. BSS is large enough to offer a diverse program to all students regardless of their intended pathway beyond secondary school, and yet we are small enough to ensure each student feels well connected to the school.

One Earth One Chance Environmental Summit The Environmental Leadership (EL) focus program Environmental Club, and Environmental Science class at Bayridge S.S., are going to partner together to run the One Earth One ChanceEnvironmental Summit for local high schools and feeder elementary students to increase awareness of environment issues and empower students to affect change in their home schools. The summit is student driven; led and organized by students for students. After a very successful summit last year, it is my hope that the One Earth One Chance Summit can be an annual event that is designed by students for the Limestone District School Board Community. | Summit participants will leave the conference with new knowledge about the environment and ways that they can affect change in their schools and communities. They will gain extra curricular experiences to help them with Eco Schools initiatives at their home schools. | Annual Summit | Primary theme: SO1 All themes by pillar Social: SO1 |

This highly motivation group of students are also looking to inform elementary students on issues about the environment. | Students in the Environmental Leadership program will leave the program having networked with community members in the field of Environmental Studies and Sustainability. Reducing Plastic Water Bottles In order to reduce the amount of plastic water bottles used we distrusted metal reusable water bottles to all grade nine students as part of their welcome packages. We also made them available for purchase to the rest of the school. Bayridge Secondary School had a water bottle refill station installed to support this initiative. | Make sure that all staff and students are using reusable water bottles at school. | Ongoing | Primary theme: EN2 All themes by pillar Environmental: EN2 Social: SO1 |
